Big Bore

Hunting a dangerous game?  What do you need?  You need a rifle you can depend on.  What does that mean?  Well, if you are using a bolt action rifle, it means you'd better have controlled round feeding with a big fat extractor to make sure you can get that spent shell out of the way.

What else?  Well, you'd better have the right calibre.  The dangerous game comes in two flavours; thin-skinned and thick-skinned.  You need different rounds for each flavour.

Have you ever been to Alaska during hunting season?  If not, it's hard to believe how wet it is.  No matter where you are hunting, but especially Alaska, stainless steel is your friend.

.375 H&H - Stainless Model 70

This is a new model Winchester 70, chambered in .375 H&H.  This has the same action as the venerable pre-64.  It has controlled round feeding and a huge claw extractor.  It is made for dangerous game. This rifle is brand new and has only been sighted in. I mounted the scope in anticipation of using the rifle and it never happened.

The unique recoil suppressor keeps the powerful .338 cartridge tame in spite of the light weight.

They really upgrade the wood on the SuperGrade model. I'm afraid the picture doesn't do it justice.

.35 Whelen - Custom Mauser

What a fantastic cartridge the .35 Whelen is. When you think about it , the 30'06 spawned a lot of other cartridges. This one is simply a 30'06 necked up to .35. Click here for some basic information. It is fascinating reading.

I have included this gun in both the Big Bore & African Big Bore sections. The cartridge is mostly known for North American Big Game but is also excellent for African Game. This particular rifle is done more in the style of African Rifles. Either way, it's hard to beat!

What a beautiful little rifle. I love this gun. It exhibits all of the bells and whistles of the classic European bolt rifle.

P1020385.jpg

The lines are simple and clean. The checkering is clean and tight.

P1020384.jpg

The mounts are quick release Talley mounts. The scope is a 30mm Steiner Infrared Penetrator in 3-9x.

P1020381.jpg

The stock has a cross bolt for strength. The action is a genuine BRNO double square bridge. The barrel comes out of the action with a half octagon for 1/4 the length of the barrel. There is a full length rib with an integral front sight and twin blade rear sight.

P1020382.jpg

It has an ebony forend cap and the sling swivel is mounted to the barrel in the European fashion.

P1020383.jpg

This is a great little rifle that unfortunately, probably can't really be appreciated from pictures. The way it goes to your shoulder and the way it handles. The balance is just wonderful.

This gun is for sale at a very reasonable price. $2850.00 without the scope. The scope is brand new and has only been used to make the gun look nice in my display case. The scope is a 3/9x Steiner. These are no longer available and is a true find. The scope is available for $700.00. This is the same price you would pay for a Swarovski American in 3-9 and it's twice the scope.

Some of the other scopes shown in photographs are also brand new and available separately. Please inquire if interested. We will entertain all reasonable offers.
